To be successful in the long term, we need to redefine our understanding of business success, how we measure, steer, report, and incentivize the transformation we are in.

The Value Balancing Alliance is a non-profit association founded in 2019 and headquartered in Frankfurt am Main. It brings together global players like Anglo American, BASF, BMW, Bosch, Deutsche Bank, DPDHL, Dräger, Holcim, Kering, Kirchhoff Group, L´Oreal, Michelin, Mitsubishi Chemical, Novartis, Otto, Porsche, POSCO, Sana Kliniken, SAP, Schaeffler, Shinhan Financial Group, SK, ZF and the big 4 auditing companies who recognize the need for a more transparent economic framework and are motivated to actively help shape the transformation.

Our Alliance is developing and testing a business-driven methodology for the holistic assessment of corporate sustainability performance: Value to society and value to business based on the concept of impact measurement and valuation. The aim is to standardize the methodology to collect uniform data and information, firstly, for management accounting and, secondly, for external reporting.

The Alliance wants to expand the present focus on large corporations and offer a new attractive international membership model, especially for mid-sized companies and/or companies that are still at the beginning of their sustainability journey.

For this, we are looking for a

Working Student - Business Development and Member relations (m/f/d)

This position is a fit for an entrepreneurial person who, together with a team of experts from different functions and companies, will develop, implement, and manage the strategic extension of our current business model. The position will work with the Chief Governance Officer (CGO) of the Alliance and the Governance team.

Activities

• Contribution to the strategic concept of the new business model
• Market research, creation of marketing material, and interaction with our network of partners
• Support the project management in the context of the development, the implementation and go-live of an additional business model. 
• Helping to organize C-level workshops and events
• Being in direct contact with corporate and potential members and assisting in the improvement of processes and the set-up of new initiatives.
• Continuously learning about recent developments in sustainability, advocacy, and accounting.

Your profile

You are…

• Working towards a university degree and are an officially enrolled student for the next 6-12 months.
• Based in Germany (the university can be abroad)
• A networker and team player with excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
• A driven, autonomous, and motivated personality committed to achieving results

You have…

• Interest in sustainability, ESG, and sustainable finance.
• Practical experience thanks to internships or working student positions related to this position. Experience in mid-sized companies is a plus.
• Skills and interest in project management and coordination.
• Please note: Due to the nature of our member companies, excellent German and English skills are a must.

The place of work is Frankfurt am Main, Germany with flexibility for hybrid work.

This is a working student (Werkstudent) position under German law. Candidates must be enrolled in a university program. If there is a mutual fit, there is a possibility for a permanent position afterwards.
