General Methodology (Measurement & Valuation)

We are excited to announce the release of the final version of the General Methodology for Measurement and Valuation.

Developed by the International Foundation for Valuing Impacts (IFVI), now part of Capitals Coalition, in partnership with the Value Balancing Alliance (VBA), this methodology provides the technical foundation for impact accounting by defining how impacts are measured and valued in monetary terms.

It establishes the concepts, data requirements, and quantitative techniques that underpin all Topic and Industry-specific Methodologies, ensuring that impact information is consistent, comparable, and decision-useful. The methodology provides transparency into how impact accounting methodologies are developed and supports the creation of new methodologies where none yet exist.

It builds on leading frameworks and standards across the impact management ecosystem, including the Capitals Coalition, Impact Management Platform, and Social Value International.
