GHG Emissions Topic Methodology

We are excited to announce the release of the final version of the Topic Methodology for Greenhouse Gas Emissions

Produced by the International Foundation for Valuing Impacts (IFVI) in partnership with the Value Balancing Alliance (VBA), the GHG Topic Methodology confronts the climate crisis by translating emissions impact into currency to understand the actual societal costs of emissions to the world.

The valuable feedback we received during the public comment period for the exposure draft, held from February 8 to April 30, 2024, along with the guidance from our methodology oversight committee, has led to a revised and approved final version of this comprehensive methodology.

Companies and investors can now measure and value in monetary terms their GHG emissions impacts and developdetailed impact accounts with valuable insights for decision-making and risk management.

This methodology builds on frameworks and protocols published by Climate Impact Lab, European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS), GHG Protocol, Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), International Sustainability Standards Board, Resources for the Future, and The Transparent Project.

We invite you to explore the GHG Methodology and leverage it to enhance your impact accounting practices. For more information and to access the full methodology, please visit the page HERE.
